Gauchos seek to build on program records at three meets in Massachusetts

The UC Santa Barbara women's indoor track and field team is traveling to the East Coast for three meets over the next few days. The Gauchos will compete at the Cupids Challenge hosted by Tufts, the Crimson Open hosted by Harvard, and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University.

The details

At the Tufts Cupid Challenge, four UC Santa Barbara athletes will compete in the pentathlon event. The following day at the Crimson Open, the Gauchos will be featured in nine different events, including the 3000m, 60m hurdles, 60m dash, and 200m on the track, as well as the weight throw, long jump, triple jump, and high jump in the field. The team will then head to Boston for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, where they will compete in a wide range of events including the 60m hurdles, 60m dash, 400m, 800m, 1000m, 3000m, 5000m, and 4x400 relay.

  • The Tufts Cupid Challenge will take place on February 13 at 12:00 p.m. PST.
  • The Crimson Open will be held on February 14, with track events starting at 9:25 a.m. PST and field events beginning at 8:00 a.m. PST.
  • The David Hemery Valentine Invitational will be on February 15, with field events starting at 7:30 a.m. PST and track events beginning at 6:20 a.m. PST.
