Austin Peay State University's men's basketball team has climbed to No. 17 in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Men's Basketball Poll after winning 8 straight games and 15 of their last 16 outings. The Governors are 19-6 overall and 13-1 in Atlantic Sun Conference play, putting them atop the ASUN standings with 4 games remaining in the regular season.
Why it matters
This ranking marks the first time APSU has been in the top 25 of the mid-major poll since February 2020, a significant achievement for the program. A regular-season ASUN title would be the Governors' first since 2008, before most of the current players were in grade school.
The details
Led by the Lou Henson Award National Player of the Week, Collin Parker, APSU has been dominant in conference play, putting up at least 90 points 5 times since the ASUN schedule began, including in 3 straight games - something that last happened in 1997. The Governors' 13-1 conference record puts them 1 game ahead of the rest of the ASUN standings.

- The Governors last appeared in the mid-major top 25 poll on February 24, 2020.
- APSU will travel to Florida this week to face North Florida and Jacksonville, then host Central Arkansas on February 25.

The takeaway
APSU's rise to the mid-major top 25 rankings showcases the program's resurgence, with the Governors poised to capture their first regular-season conference title in over 15 years. This achievement highlights the team's impressive performance and the potential for continued success as they navigate the final stretch of the season.
