Boston Police seized over 200 grams of drugs, including cocaine and fentanyl, during search warrant operations in the Mattapan neighborhood last month. Two suspects, Michael Browne and Juan Romero, were arrested and charged with drug trafficking and possession with intent to distribute.
Why it matters
The drug busts in Mattapan highlight the ongoing efforts by Boston Police to combat the opioid crisis and drug trafficking in the city. The large quantities of drugs seized indicate the scale of the problem, and the arrests of the two suspects aim to disrupt the local drug trade.

A subsequent search warrant at a Delhi Street address uncovered an additional 130 grams of crack, 80 grams of fentanyl, 165 Suboxone strips, and drug manufacturing equipment. In a separate operation, police executed a search warrant at a Hamilton Street address in Dorchester, where they found 8 grams of fentanyl, 23 grams of crack, a digital scale, and $1,600. Juan Romero was arrested and charged with drug trafficking and possession with intent to distribute.
