Boston University is launching a new monthly Terrier Spirit Day, starting on February 5. On the first Thursday of every month, all students, faculty, staff, and alumni are encouraged to wear BU gear or colors to show their school pride. Those not on campus can participate by using BU-themed virtual backgrounds, mugs, and other accessories.
Why it matters
The new Terrier Spirit Days aim to foster a greater sense of community and belonging among the BU community, one of the key values outlined in the university's Living Our Values Initiative. The monthly celebrations provide an opportunity for all Terriers, past and present, to come together and celebrate their shared identity.
The details

Faculty and staff have been provided with specific guidelines on how to participate, including how to do so if their job requires a standard uniform.

— Matthew Feliciano, BU Student Government president (bu.edu)
“I love to wear our colors to show how proud I am to be a member of this incredible community. And I'm excited for Terrier Spirit Days, because they provide our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends with a fun opportunity to celebrate who we are, here on campus, and around the globe.”
— Melissa Gilliam, President of Boston University (bu.edu)
What’s next
The next Terrier Spirit Day will be held on March 5, 2026.
