The annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, known as Jazz Fest, is set to take place over two weekends in late April and early May 2026. Organizers have announced that the cheapest general admission tickets are nearly sold out, and prices for both general admission and VIP passes will be increasing at the end of this week.
Why it matters
Jazz Fest is a major cultural event in New Orleans, drawing hundreds of thousands of attendees each year. The price increases will impact both local residents and out-of-town visitors looking to attend the festival, potentially making it less accessible for some. This reflects the ongoing challenge of balancing the costs of producing a large-scale music festival with keeping tickets affordable for the community.
The details
Single-day Jazz Fest tickets are not yet on sale, but weekend passes and VIP tickets are available. Louisiana residents can currently purchase a four-day general admission weekend pass for $319, while non-residents pay $90 more. GA Plus passes, which include additional perks, cost $659 with no resident discount. Starting this Friday, both GA and GA Plus prices will increase by $30, and once those sell out, prices will jump another $30. VIP passes range from $1,199 to $2,099 and include amenities like private viewing areas, air-conditioned lounges, on-site parking, private restrooms, and a full-service bar.
- Jazz Fest runs from Thursday, April 23 to Sunday, April 26, and Thursday, April 30 to Sunday, May 3, 2026.
- The cheapest tickets are almost sold out as of January 27, 2026.
- Ticket prices will increase at the end of this week, on Friday, January 31, 2026.

The takeaway
The upcoming price increases for Jazz Fest tickets reflect the challenge of balancing the costs of producing a large-scale music festival with keeping the event accessible to the local community. As the cheapest tickets sell out, organizers must weigh the need to cover expenses with the goal of maintaining affordability for New Orleans residents.
