Abbeville Lady Wildcats Secure Fourth Place at Regional Powerlifting Meet

The Abbeville High Lady Wildcats Power Lifting Team finished in fourth place at the West Regional Power lifting tournament last week. Several team members had standout performances, including Khandi Shuford who won the 123-pound class and set new regional and state records in the squat, deadlift, and total lift.

Khandi Shuford in the 123-pound class won the West Regionals and was named the girls' outstanding light lifter. She set new regional and state records with a 365-pound squat, 185-pound bench press, 390-pound deadlift, and 940-pound total. Melissa Mai in the 132-pound class was the West Regionals runner-up, lifting 315 pounds in the squat, 150 pounds in the bench press, and 310 pounds in the deadlift for a 775-pound total. Yasmeen Cormier in the 132-pound class finished third, with a 305-pound squat, 135-pound bench press, and 315-pound deadlift for a 755-pound total.
