Madisonville-North Hopkins uses big 2nd inning to hold off late surge from Webster County

Madisonville-North Hopkins scored six runs in the 2nd inning and held on for a 9-5 victory over Webster County in a five-inning scrimmage on Thursday. Freshman Sadie Kirk hit a 3-run homer to highlight the big inning for the Lady Maroons, who also took advantage of two Webster errors and a passed ball to add three more runs in the 5th. Webster scored five runs in the bottom of the 5th but couldn't complete the comeback. Kirk earned the win in the circle, striking out seven over three innings.
