The West End Opportunity Partnership, an organization focused on economic development in West Louisville, is providing a $500,000 loan to TGOE Holdings to convert a former restaurant into a new laundromat called 'Load and Fold'. The laundromat will fill a critical need in the Algonquin neighborhood, where the closest laundromat is nearly 3 miles away, and many rental homes lack in-unit laundry facilities.

Why it matters

This project is part of the West End Opportunity Partnership's broader efforts to invest in community-benefiting projects across West Louisville. By repurposing an existing building into a much-needed laundromat, the partnership aims to provide an essential service and create new part-time job opportunities for local residents.

The details

TGOE Holdings, led by president Donald Taylor, decided to open the laundromat in order to invest in the Algonquin community long-term. The new 'Load and Fold' laundromat will be located at the corner of Dixie Highway and Vorster Avenue, in a building that previously housed the Forty Acres and a Mule Restaurant. Taylor says the company is committed to sourcing the new part-time job openings from the local community.

  • The West End Opportunity Partnership has provided $12 million to projects in West Louisville over the past 4 years.
  • TGOE Holdings plans to break ground on the new laundromat facility towards the end of May 2026.

This is for the community...and when we move into other communities and see needs...and it may be laundry, or it may be something else, but when we move into other communities and see needs, then we're gonna try to fulfill those as well.”
