Mumford & Sons made their fourth appearance on Saturday Night Live, performing two songs from their new album 'Prizefighter'. The band was joined on stage by Irish musician Hozier for 'Rubber Band Man' and country star Chris Stapleton for 'Here'. Co-producer Aaron Dessner of The National also appeared with the group.
Why it matters
Mumford & Sons' appearance on SNL helps promote their new album 'Prizefighter', which the band has described as their most authentic and straightforward work yet. The performances also showcase the group's continued evolution and collaborations with other acclaimed artists.
The details
For their first song, Mumford & Sons opened with 'Rubber Band Man', which features Hozier and was co-written by Brandi Carlile. Hozier and Dessner joined the band on stage for the performance. Their second song was 'Here', the opening track from 'Prizefighter', featuring guest vocals from Chris Stapleton. Singer-songwriter Sierra Ferrell also appeared with the group for this performance.
- Mumford & Sons last appeared on SNL in 2018 to promote their album 'Delta'.
- 'Prizefighter' is Mumford & Sons' second album in less than a year, following the release of 'Rushmere' in March 2025.

What they’re saying
“It's like we got to this stage in our careers where we're comfortable in our skin now, and so we can talk straight. And this is the straightest talking record I think we have. And so it's the closest to the essence of who we are, honestly. And that's why I love it so much, because it feels like representing that on record can be really hard and really challenging, and you can get most of the way to success. But there's always edifice, I think, and this one doesn't feel like it has much of that in it. It's just f—ing us and our mates, and that's what our band is.”
— Marcus Mumford
“Dessner, he just feels like a real ally. We've obviously been a fan of The National for a long time, and we met him and worked with him as we were preparing to make our third record, Wilder Mind.”
— Ted Dwane, Bassist, Mumford & Sons
What’s next
Mumford & Sons are touring Australia and New Zealand in April before hitting North America in June, then Europe. The band will be back in the states through October, headlining Louisville, Kentucky's Bourbon & Beyond Festival.
The takeaway
Mumford & Sons' appearance on SNL showcases their continued evolution as a band, with the group describing their new album 'Prizefighter' as their most authentic and straightforward work yet. The performances also highlight the band's collaborative spirit, with special guests like Hozier and Chris Stapleton joining them on stage.
