Two people were killed and a Kentucky State Police trooper was seriously injured when a vehicle pulled into the path of the trooper who was responding to an emergency call for service in Knott County. The accident happened on Sunday morning at the intersection of KY-80 and Perry Circle Road just north of Hazard.

According to Kentucky State Police, a trooper was responding to an emergency call for service in Knott County, traveling east on KY-80. Another vehicle, which was traveling west on KY-80, attempted to turn left onto Perry Circle Road and turned into the trooper's path. The driver and passenger in the vehicle were pronounced deceased at the scene, while the trooper suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital.
