The winner of next month's Girls Region 2 Basketball Tournament will play the opening game of the Clark's Pump-N-Shop Sweet 16 at Rupp Arena. The tournament opener on Wednesday, March 11, at 11:00 am will feature the Region 2 winner against the 11th Region champion.

The top four teams in the KHSAA RPI for Region 2 exiting the weekend were Lyon County (19-5), Crittenden County (18-4), Hopkins County Central (16-8), and seven-time defending champion Henderson County (15-9). Frederick Douglass (18-4) is the defending 11th Region champion and knocked off defending state champion Sacred Heart last week. They, along with Paul Laurence Dunbar (16-4), Lafayette (16-6), and Western Hills (16-7), are the region's top four teams in the KHSAA RPI.
