Shawnee County Readies for Road Projects and Spring Events

Shawnee County Commissioner Bill Riphahn provided updates on upcoming road projects and spring activities in the area. A bridge replacement on NE Calhoun Bluff Road will close the road for several months starting April 27, while work continues on NW 46th Street. Riphahn also previewed the annual Tulips at Twilight display at Ward Meade Park, which runs Wednesday through Sunday evenings through April 26.

The NE Calhoun Bluff Road bridge replacement project will begin on April 27 and is expected to last through August. The road will be closed to through traffic, with detour signs posted on Highway 24 and K-4. On NW 46th Street, crews are working between Green Hills Road and Fielding Road, with substantial completion expected by the end of October and all work done by November 20. The Tulips at Twilight display at Ward Meade Park will be open from 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays, through April 26. Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for children ages 6 and older, as well as seniors.
