John Deere has announced several new enhancements to its planter lineup, designed to help farmers achieve more consistent seed emergence and higher yield potential. The advancements focus on improving furrow application, depth and residue management, as well as enhancing uptime and logistics through features like real-time monitoring and automation.
Why it matters
Consistent emergence and optimal nutrient availability at planting are critical factors for maximizing crop yields. With rising input costs, farmers are seeking every advantage to get their crops off to the best possible start. John Deere's planter upgrades aim to address these agronomic needs and help growers be more efficient during the crucial planting window.
The details
Key planter enhancements from John Deere include a new dual-product fertilizer system with in-furrow and side-dress application capabilities, an electric depth control system for on-the-go adjustments, and a furrow monitoring camera system to identify and address residue issues. The company has also added Downforce Automation to optimize downforce settings based on soil conditions. On the logistics side, a new Operations Center feature provides real-time monitoring of equipment location, work status, and product levels.
- The dual-product fertilizer system will be available on model year 2027 John Deere 1775NT, 16/24R, and DB60 24R planters.
- The ExactDepth electric depth control and FurrowVision camera system are available on several 2027 John Deere planter models, including 1725C, 1775NT, 1795, and DB planters 36 rows or less.

“We have thought through the entire planting experience, adding a way for the operators to know exactly what is going on with the planter. From the tractor cab, a display screen shows both fertilizer products on a single run screen. Additional improvements offer the operator to now select a dose length of 4' and improvements to the map coverage page.”
