The Oklahoma Panhandle State softball team (5-16, 3-5 SAC) built early leads in both games of a doubleheader on the road against Central Christian (9-7, 4-4) on Saturday, but were unable to hold on as they fell 7-3 and 5-4.
Why it matters
Panhandle State has struggled to a 5-16 record so far this season, and these losses to a conference opponent will make it more difficult for them to climb the standings in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
The details
In the first game, Panhandle State jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but Central Christian scored seven unanswered runs to rally for the 7-3 win. In the second game, the Aggies again built an early lead, this time 4-1, but the Tigers came back to win 5-4.
- The doubleheader took place on Saturday, March 8, 2026.
The players
Oklahoma Panhandle State
The softball team from Oklahoma Panhandle State University, which currently has a 5-16 record and is 3-5 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
Central Christian
The softball team from Central Christian College in McPherson, Kansas, which now has a 9-7 record and is 4-4 in conference play.
The takeaway
Panhandle State's struggles continue as they were unable to hold early leads in both games of the doubleheader, dropping them further behind in the conference standings. The team will need to find a way to close out games if they hope to turn their season around.
