KBI Arrests Manhattan Man in Connection to January Officer-Involved Shooting

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has arrested a 38-year-old Manhattan man, Brian Lovgren, in connection with a January 3rd officer-involved shooting in Pottawatomie County. Lovgren was taken into custody on Wednesday and booked on a warrant for two counts of aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer. He is currently being held in Wyandotte County Jail.

According to the KBI, deputies with the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office responded to a home in east Manhattan on January 3rd after a homeowner reported gunfire damage to a shed and garage. While investigating, deputies heard additional shots in the area and approached a nearby residence, where Lovgren exited the home with a handgun after deputies identified themselves and issued commands. A deputy then fired multiple rounds, striking and injuring Lovgren. No officers were injured.
