The Kansas State Wildcats were thoroughly outmatched at home, losing 95-61 to the #8 Iowa State Cyclones in one of the worst defeats in Bramlage Coliseum history. K-State briefly led 4-2 early, but Iowa State then went on a massive run and never looked back, leading by double digits for most of the game. The Cyclones had five players score in double figures, led by Josh Jefferson's 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. K-State's PJ Haggerty scored a team-high 23 points, but on 21 shots.
Why it matters
This loss continues a troubling trend for the Wildcats, who have struggled mightily this season and appear to be lacking in both talent and coaching. The blowout defeat raises serious questions about the direction of the program under second-year head coach Jerome Tang, who has yet to get the team playing at a competitive level.

The takeaway
This blowout loss is the latest in a string of disappointing performances for the Wildcats under second-year head coach Jerome Tang. With the team struggling mightily and facing an uphill battle to make the NCAA Tournament, the focus now shifts to the long-term direction of the program and whether Tang has the coaching chops to turn things around.
