Bloomington-based Gables Bagels has opened its first location outside the college town, launching a new shop in Zionsville's Village District. The 1,560 square foot storefront at 270 S. Main St. offers the brand's lineup of kettle-boiled bagels, house-made schmears, and signature breakfast sandwiches, as well as catering and frozen "Bagel Barrel" options.
Why it matters
The arrival of Gables Bagels marks the first Boone County expansion for the popular bagel brand, which has built a loyal following in Bloomington since launching in 2022. The new Zionsville location aims to capture both walk-in morning traffic and catering business, adding another breakfast option to the Village District's retail mix.
The details
The Zionsville shop features 14 bagel variations, 10 schmear options, and 10 signature sandwiches, as well as gluten-free bagels. In addition to the indoor seating, the location includes a takeout window and outdoor seating to cater to Main Street foot traffic. Owner Ed Schwartzman said catering and delivery would be a key part of the business, with the online ordering listing options for groups like the "Bagel Barrel" dozen.
- Gables Bagels opened the Zionsville location on Thursday, March 12, 2026.
- The Zionsville plan commission approved a development plan amendment last year to convert the 1,560 square foot building into a restaurant with a kitchen, walk-in freezer, and a wrap-around deck.
