Notre Dame football will be missing over 10 players this spring who are nursing injuries, stunting some of their development. Head coach Marcus Freeman met with the media on Wednesday to provide an update on who will be limited or unable to participate in spring practices.
Why it matters
Notre Dame is looking to build on a strong 2025 season and will need many of these injured players to be healthy and ready to contribute in the fall. Injuries during spring practice can also impact player development and team chemistry heading into the new season.
The details
A number of key players will be limited or out for Notre Dame's spring practices, including star cornerback Leonard Moore, offensive tackle Charles Jagusah, linebackers Drayk Bowen, Madden Faraimo and Kahanu Kia, offensive lineman Tyler Merrill, and running back Aneyas Williams. Several others, including offensive lineman Ashton Craig, running backs Kedren Young and Javian Osborne, wide receivers Quincy Porter and Brayden Robinson, linebackers Ja'Kobe Clapper and Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa, defensive linemen Tiki Hola and Gordy Sulfsted, and cornerback Khary Adams, will be non-participants this spring.
- Notre Dame's spring practices will begin on Friday, March 21, 2026.

What they’re saying
“We found out that star cornerback Leonard Moore won't be able to practice during the early portion of spring, along with offensive tackle Charles Jagusah having yet another surgery, his fifth following his injury last summer.”

What’s next
The hope is that these injured players will be able to recover in time for the start of the 2026 season.
The takeaway
Notre Dame will need to manage these injuries carefully during spring practice in order to have their full complement of players available when the new season begins. The team's depth and development will be tested, but getting these key contributors healthy should be the top priority.
