Owings Mills (Md.) McDonogh four-star defensive lineman Joseph Buchanan has pressed the reset button on his recruitment process after initially planning to reveal a commitment on Feb. 15. Buchanan, a top-25 defensive lineman in the 2027 class, has earned offers from Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Indiana, Penn State and others after a strong junior campaign. He was previously down to North Carolina, Ohio State, Indiana and Notre Dame, but is now keeping his options open, with LSU also emerging as a school of interest.
Why it matters
Buchanan is a highly coveted defensive line prospect, and his recruitment being opened back up gives several top programs a chance to make a late push for his commitment. LSU's entry into the mix is notable, as the Tigers have been aggressively recruiting top talent from across the country.
The details
The 6-foot-4, 260-pound Buchanan initially planned to commit on Feb. 15 but has now pressed the reset button on his recruitment. LSU offered him a scholarship in late January, and the SEC powerhouse has become a school that intrigues Buchanan, leading him to delay his commitment. Meanwhile, LSU is also pursuing four-star wide receiver Ah'Mari Stevens, who is currently committed to Miami.
