Arizona is coming off one of the best seasons in program history, making it to the Final Four for the first time since 2001 and winning a program-record 36 games. With key players graduating, transferring, and declaring for the NBA Draft, the Wildcats will have to retool through the transfer portal. One player they are targeting is Oregon guard Jackson Shelstad, who will be taking an official visit to Arizona.
Why it matters
The Wildcats will be losing some of their top players from last season, including lead guard Jaden Bradley. Shelstad could potentially fill that void and provide the team with much-needed outside shooting and shot creation, which were issues for Arizona in their Final Four loss.
The details
Shelstad averaged 15.6 points and 4.9 assists per game last year with the Ducks. He is a junior transfer, but the Wildcats may get him for two seasons as Shelstad has applied for a medical redshirt after suffering a season-ending hand injury at the end of 2025. This would grant him an extra year of eligibility and allow him to play two years with head coach Tommy Lloyd and the Wildcats.
- Arizona made it to the Final Four in 2026.
- Jaden Bradley, Brayden Burries, and Koa Peat are leaving the Wildcats.
- Jackson Shelstad will be taking an official visit to Arizona.

The takeaway
