Registration is now open for the 2026 500 Festival Rookie Run, a non-competitive event designed for children ages 3-10 to experience the excitement of a real running event. The race will take place on May 9, 2026 in downtown Indianapolis, with each age group running a course of varying distances. All participants will receive a finisher medal, snacks, and water.

The details

The Rookie Run will be held in 30-minute blocks for different age groups, with the youngest 3-year-olds running a 2-block course and the oldest 9-10 year-olds running a 1/3-mile course. Online registration is $10 and includes a commemorative shirt, goodie bag, bib, and medal, while on-site registration is $5 and includes a medal, bib, and goodie bag.
