When Virender pulled out a gun, Harman and two other men - Jagdeep 'Bajwa' Singh and an unidentified man called 'Virdi' - returned fire. In total, four different men are believed to have fired shots during the incident, which left Virender, Kuldeep Singh, and two others wounded. Virender and Kuldeep later died from their injuries.
