The City of Frankfort has awarded a $720,707.50 contract to E&B Paving for its 2026 Community Crossings Matching Grant (CCMG) paving project. Through the state's 50/50 CCMG program, Frankfort will receive half of the project cost in state funding, reducing the city's financial responsibility to $360,353.75.

Why it matters

The CCMG program helps cities and towns like Frankfort improve local infrastructure by sharing the funding burden, allowing them to accelerate critical road and street upgrades that might otherwise be difficult to afford.

The details

The 2026 paving plan includes upgrades to 16 roadway sections across multiple Frankfort neighborhoods. In addition to resurfacing work, the city will install several permanent speed bumps near major parks and high-traffic areas, and remove old railroad ties on Fifth St. The city continues to rely on the PASER rating system to evaluate road conditions, with no streets currently rated at the lowest level.

  • The project is expected to begin in late summer or early fall of 2026, pending the completion of necessary utility upgrades.
  • The city will provide regular construction updates once work begins.
