Nationally recognized keynote speaker and mental fitness coach Sam Anthony Lucania is set to return to the area the week of March 23-27, bringing a message of hope and proactive mental health strategies to Montgomery and Macoupin counties. Supported by grants for mental health, the speaking tour is co-sponsored by The Next Network alongside the Macoupin County Public Health Department and ROSC (Recovery Oriented System of Care).

Why it matters

Anthony's approach is rooted in his own long-term recovery from substance use disorder, depression and suicidal behavior. He uses raw personal storytelling to help audiences replace toxic inner dialogue and master their emotions under pressure, aiming to reduce the stigma associated with asking for help.

The details

During his signature keynote, "Who Are You Listening To?", Anthony identifies "gateway behaviors" and teaches the Catch, Check, Choose framework, an actionable strategy where individuals learn to: Catch a thought, Check if it is true or helpful, and Choose the next best response. The public is invited to hear Anthony's message at two local Celebrate Recovery events.

  • Anthony's visit will take place the week of March 23-27, 2026.
  • He will speak at Hillsboro Free Methodist Church on Monday, March 23 at 6 p.m.
