Compeer Financial, a member-owned Farm Credit cooperative, has committed over $1.4 million to 14 community and initiative foundations across Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin through its Rural Collaboration Project. The funds will be used to support organizations and programs that foster rural vitality, with a focus on areas like agriculture, community development, entrepreneurship, housing, leadership development, rural education, and workforce development.

Why it matters

As a rural lending cooperative, Compeer Financial understands the importance of empowering rural communities to be economically vibrant and provide a high quality of life for residents. By partnering with local foundations that understand the unique needs of their communities, Compeer is able to direct funds where they will have the greatest impact on rural development and sustainability.

The details

The Rural Collaboration Project is designed to uplift organizations and their efforts to support, serve and expand programs that foster rural vitality. Compeer Financial recognizes that community and initiative foundations maintain a pulse on the unique needs of their communities and are best qualified to directly disperse funding. In response, the Rural Collaboration Project provides funding to those foundations so they can leverage the dollars through their own grant programs where funds can make a bigger, broader impact.

  • The Rural Collaboration Project is in its third year.
  • The $1.4 million in funding will be dispersed over the next one to three years.
