Galesburg Unveils Packed Spring Recreation Schedule

From Easter egg hunts to pickleball clinics, the city's Parks and Recreation Department has a full lineup of activities for all ages.

The City of Galesburg Parks and Recreation Department has announced its spring 2026 schedule, featuring a wide range of events and programs for families and individuals. The lineup includes the 38th Annual Easter Egg Hunt, the opening of the Lakeside Recreation Facility and Hawthorne Pool, swim lessons, the return of the Touch a Truck event, and the 39th Annual Youth Fishing Derby.

The 38th Annual Easter Egg Hunt on March 29 will feature 10,000 candy-filled eggs divided into four age groups, with golden eggs containing prize slips. The Lakeside Recreation Facility will host pickleball, tennis, batting cages, and more, while Hawthorne Pool opens for open swim, aquafit classes, and spring swim lessons. The Touch a Truck event on May 6 and the 39th Annual Youth Fishing Derby on May 17 round out the schedule, along with volleyball clinics and softball league registration.

  • The 38th Annual Easter Egg Hunt takes place on Sunday, March 29 at 1 p.m.
  • The Lakeside Recreation Facility is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., and weekends from 1 to 6 p.m. Summer hours begin on May 18.
  • Hawthorne Pool is open now, with open swim on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 4 to 6 p.m. and weekends from 1 to 4 p.m.
  • Touch a Truck returns to the Lake Storey Pavilion parking lot on Wednesday, May 6, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
  • The 39th Annual Youth Fishing Derby is on Saturday, May 17, from 1 to 3 p.m.
