Galesburg High School's boys track program has a storied 75-year history, with only three head coaches over that span. Current coach Craig Hillier is in his 22nd year leading the Streaks and previews the 2026 season, which features several returning state qualifiers and a focus on health and relentless pursuit of the podium.
Why it matters
Galesburg High School's boys track program has maintained a high level of success and continuity over the decades, with a legacy of excellence that the current team aims to continue. The Streaks' performance this season will be closely watched as they seek to build on last year's strong showing at the state meet.
The details
The Streaks' coaching staff is led by Craig Hillier, who is in his 22nd year as head coach and 31st year coaching track in the district. His assistants include Brad Gross (sprints, hurdles, sprint relays), Blayze Purchase (throws), and Kobe Ramirez (jumps) — all of whom competed in track and field for Galesburg High School. Last season, the Streaks finished sixth in the Western Big 6 Conference and third at the sectional meet, with several state qualifiers including Reed Schleich, Josiah Carter, Gilbert Lemus, and the 4x400 relay team.
- The Streak ABC Invite will take place on April 17, 2026.
- The IHSA Sectional at Galesburg is scheduled for May 21, 2026.
