After being named by Playboy magazine as one of the best-unsigned bands in the United States, Ouray found itself a staple on club and concert stages throughout the country. Their first release Chrome On the Range (Taxi Records) was a Midwest radio breakout in Billboard Magazine and is now a cult status album. The band was regularly seen supporting acts like The New Riders Of The Purple Sage, Sea Level, Commander Cody, Marshall Tucker Band, Asleep At The Wheel, and The Dixie Dregs.
Why We Like It
- Ouray's ever-relevant Americana sound features the addition of third brother John Pirruccello, whose guitar resume includes work with Keith Richards, Nicholas Tremulis, The Autumn Defense and The Westies.
- The band's second album Motor Dream saw them shifting slightly from their country rock roots to a more rock-oriented approach.
- Originally founded in 1975, brothers Frank and Bo Pirruccello (guitar and pedal steel) established Ouray as one of the most rock-oriented, tight and skillful country rock groups in the region.
