Nutanix Inc. used its .NEXT 2026 conference to unveil a sweeping set of platform updates aimed at addressing the challenge of agentic AI governance and scaling the infrastructure to support the proliferation of AI agents across hybrid environments. The company's cloud platform is positioning itself to support optimization, security, governance and ecosystem breadth as organizations race to operationalize AI.

Why it matters

As AI agents become more ubiquitous across hybrid cloud environments, organizations are facing new challenges around managing, securing and governing these autonomous systems at scale. Nutanix is positioning its platform to be a full-stack solution for agentic AI governance, helping customers gain visibility, enforce policies and control costs as agent-driven workloads expand.

The details

Nutanix's platform updates focus on four key areas: AI readiness, unified virtual machine and container management, expanded hardware ecosystem support, and large-scale distributed management. A new AI Gateway will provide visibility into agent behavior, enforce cost and security governance, and apply access controls across model endpoints. Nutanix is also deepening its ecosystem through partnerships with major hardware vendors to build an open, scalable agentic AI infrastructure.

What they’re saying

“We're definitely feeling the pressure on our customers, because all of them are looking for ways to actually make this work and deploy it in a way that makes sense to them.”

— Thomas Cornely, Executive Vice President of Product Management

“This is one of our biggest releases we've ever done in the history of Nutanix. We're doing a lot of work around making sure Nutanix Cloud Platform is driving the agentic AI era adoption for organizations. It's all about optimization, security, governance and performance for those workloads.”

— Ketan Shah, Vice President of Products

“There's going to be an explosion of agents, and yes, they'll be running wild. Before you know it, the costs add up. One of the things we're building is something called AI Gateway, and that will help you get visibility. You can help build policies around governance and chargeback.”

— Ketan Shah, Vice President of Products

What’s next

Nutanix plans to continue expanding its ecosystem partnerships and engineering collaborations to further strengthen its agentic AI governance capabilities across hybrid cloud environments.
