No Sé Discos is launching a Kickstarter campaign to fund a vinyl release of Stations' long-lost recordings, including three tracks produced by Factory Records' Martin Hannett. The album, titled "Ghostland", will also feature additional Stations songs the band produced themselves. This release comes after a fire destroyed the band members' home and all of their Stations memorabilia.
Why it matters
Stations was an influential postpunk band in the Chicago music scene in the 1980s, but they only released one single before breaking up. This vinyl release will finally make their music, including the rare Hannett-produced recordings, widely available to fans and introduce the band to new listeners.
The details
In 2022, the Reader's Secret History of Chicago Music column highlighted Stations, a postpunk band formed in 1979 around guitarists David Stowell and frontwoman George Black. Though the band only released one single, they recorded three tracks with renowned producer Martin Hannett in 1982 that have gone largely unheard. No Sé Discos plans to release those Hannett-produced tracks, along with a couple of the band's self-produced songs, on a 12-inch vinyl album called "Ghostland". However, a recent fire destroyed the band members' home and all of their Stations memorabilia, making this release even more important to preserve the band's legacy.
- In summer 1982, Stations recorded with Factory Records producer Martin Hannett.

- On January 21, 2026, a fire destroyed the home of Stations members George Black and David Stowell, including all of their band memorabilia.
- Last week, No Sé Discos launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the vinyl release of "Ghostland".
- The Kickstarter campaign runs through Sunday, March 8, 2026.

What’s next
The Kickstarter campaign for the "Ghostland" vinyl release runs through March 8, 2026. If the goal is met, No Sé Discos plans to manufacture 500 blood-red vinyl copies of the album featuring the rare Stations recordings.
The takeaway
This release of the long-lost Stations recordings, including the Martin Hannett-produced tracks, is an important effort to preserve the legacy of an influential but overlooked postpunk band from Chicago's music history. The destruction of the band members' personal archives makes this vinyl release even more crucial to ensuring their music is not lost.
