Free Dental Exams and Cleanings Offered for Children at Parkland College

Give Kids A Smile Day set for February 7 with services provided at no cost to families.

Children in the Champaign-Urbana area will be able to receive free dental exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments, and oral health education during Give Kids A Smile® Day on Saturday, February 7, at the Parkland College Dental Hygiene Clinic. The event is sponsored by the Illini District Dental Society, Champaign-Urbana Public Health District, and Parkland College Dental Hygiene Program.

The annual Give Kids A Smile® event aims to improve access to oral healthcare for underserved children in the local community, providing free services and education to hundreds of thousands of kids across the country each year.

The details

Local dentists and dental hygienists will volunteer their time to provide the free services, which will also include silver diamine fluoride treatments as needed. The oral health fair will feature educational activities, free toothbrushes, and visits with the Tooth Fairy. No appointment, income, or residency requirements are needed for children ages 1 to 17 to receive the services, as long as they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
