The Lewis-Clark State baseball team is set to open the 2026 season on Saturday with a home doubleheader against Whitworth. The Warriors are coming off a 36-16 campaign in 2025 that saw them fail to qualify for the Avista NAIA World Series for a second straight year, leading to the departure of former head coach Jake Taylor. Three-time national champion coach Jeremiah Robbins has returned to lead the program for a second time.
Why it matters
Lewis-Clark State has a storied baseball tradition, having won 18 NAIA national championships. The team’s failure to reach the World Series the past two seasons has been a disappointment for the program and its loyal fan base in the LC Valley. Robbins’ return as head coach is seen as a move to get the Warriors back to their championship-caliber form.
The details
Saturday’s doubleheader will feature a modified format, with one 9-inning game followed by one 7-inning contest. First pitch is set for 10 a.m. at Harris Field, with live radio coverage on 95.5 FM and AM 950 KOZE, as well as free online streaming at koze.com. Whitworth is coming off a 29-18 season in 2025 that saw them advance to the NCAA Division III Regionals.
