In a signing day surprise, the Utah Utes added two new players to their 2026 recruiting class. The Utes landed the commitment of junior college cornerback Brandon Holmes and also added offensive lineman Milz Asiata, who originally signed with Utah in 2025 but did not enroll.
Why it matters
The additions of Holmes and Asiata help bolster Utah's roster, especially on the defensive side of the ball where the Utes lost several cornerbacks to the transfer portal and graduation. Asiata also provides depth and potential on the offensive line as the Utes look to build for the future under new head coach Morgan Scalley.
The details
Holmes, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound cornerback from Fresno City College, originally committed to Arizona before signing with Utah on National Signing Day. He had a standout 2025 season, recording 45 tackles, a sack, five interceptions and 11 pass breakups. Asiata, a 6-foot-5, 331-pound offensive lineman, signed with Utah in 2025 but did not enroll. He will now join the Utes' offensive line room and provide depth and size up front.
