Deputies arrived around 8:12 a.m. and positioned their patrol vehicle to block southbound traffic while Valley County Road Department crews worked to remove the tree. While the patrol vehicle was stationary and blocking traffic, a semi-truck struck it from behind, pushing the patrol unit into a snowbank.
