Washington Announces Spring Yard Waste Collection Schedule

The City of Washington, Iowa has announced its spring yard waste collection schedule, including curbside pickup dates and hours for the Yard Waste Center disposal site. Residents can dispose of standard yard waste bags, bundled trimmings, and dry leaves and twigs through the city's program.

The details

Curbside yard waste collection will begin on March 17th, with pickups west of 2nd Avenue on Thursdays and east of 2nd Avenue on Tuesdays. The routes will run until the week before Thanksgiving. Residents can use standard biodegradable bags not exceeding 50 pounds, and properly bundled trimmings up to 75 pounds, 18 inches in diameter, and 5 feet long. The Yard Waste Center is open Monday through Friday from 7am to 4pm for residents to dispose of yard waste and brush, but no building materials or other debris.
