Despite several rallies, the Simpson College baseball team fell just short in an 8-6 loss to Coe to open American Rivers Conference play. Coe struck first with four runs in the second inning, but Simpson answered in the fifth with RBI doubles. After Coe pushed the lead back to four in the bottom of the inning, the Storm responded again with two runs in the sixth on RBI singles. Bryson Gibson delivered RBI singles in both the seventh and ninth innings, but Coe had an answer each time Simpson closed the gap.
