The Hillcrest Academy Raven boys basketball team took on No. 10 in Class 2A Pella Christian on the road Monday, dropping a 70-42 contest. Pella Christian used a 20-8 run in the first quarter to build an early lead and remained on top 28-18 at halftime. The Eagles pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Ravens 42-24 for the victory.
Why it matters
This was a tough road test for the Ravens against a highly ranked opponent. While Hillcrest has had a strong season so far at 17-4, this loss shows they still have work to do to compete with the top teams in Class 2A.
The details
Hillcrest shot just 35% as a team and finished with 19 rebounds, five steals and three assists. Rowan Miller and Gibson Scott each scored 11 points for the Ravens. Pella Christian improved to 12-8 on the season with the win.
