The Indianola boys track and field team is set to compete at the Central College Indoor meet today. The squad is excited about the talent in their running events, especially with many of their distance runners returning after winning the cross country state championship in the fall. The team also has strong throwers and sprinters back from last year's successful season.

Why it matters

Indianola has a strong track and field program, and this indoor meet will be an early test to see how the team's top athletes perform against quality competition from across the region. The meet will provide valuable experience and data to help the coaches prepare the team for the outdoor season and state championships.

The details

Indianola head coach Matt Oliver highlighted several key athletes that the team will be counting on, including distance runners Paxton Bloom, Kiefer Barnes, and Reed Robbins, as well as thrower Aiden Curtis and sprinters Asher Brick and Nick Bradley. The team is excited about their overall depth this year after only sending throwers to the first two meets of the season.

What they’re saying

“We feel really, really good about those athletes with Paxton Bloom, Kiefer Barnes, and Reed Robbins kind of leading the way for our distance guys. In our field events, we're going to have some new guys there, but some of the returners that won some medals for us last year at the state meet would be like Aiden Curtis in the discus who is a junior for us. In our sprinters, we've got Asher Brick coming back for us, we've got Nick Bradley coming back for us. Those were both guys that were both on the school record setting 4x100 last year. We feel really good about our depth this year.”

— Matt Oliver, Head Coach
