Two students from Winfield-Mount Union High School, senior Ella Kann and sophomore Rebecca Given, have been chosen to showcase their artwork at the Youth Art Month art show in Des Moines. The students' pieces will be displayed at the Jordan Creek Mall until March 28th as part of the statewide celebration of student art presented by the Art Educators of Iowa group.

Why it matters

The annual Youth Art Month exhibition provides a valuable platform for young artists to have their work recognized and celebrated at the state level. Participation in this event can boost student confidence, inspire continued artistic development, and raise awareness of the vibrant creative community within Iowa’s schools.

The details

Art teachers from across Iowa can submit up to 10 student artworks each year to be considered for the Youth Art Month show. A panel of judges then selects the winning pieces to be showcased at various events throughout March. Both Ella Kann and Rebecca Given will receive invitations to the Youth Art Month Reception and certificates of achievement for having their art selected.
