Iowa State women's basketball star Addy Brown has been cleared to resume some basketball activities after being sidelined since January 4 due to a lower-body injury, according to head coach Bill Fennelly. However, Brown will not play in Sunday's game against Kansas State, though Fennelly expressed optimism that she could return at some point before the end of the season.
Why it matters
Brown's return would be a major boost for the Cyclones, as she is the team's leading rebounder and also averages over 13 points and 5 assists per game. Her versatility and playmaking ability have been missed during her absence.
The details
Fennelly said Brown has been cleared to do some individual workouts, a positive sign in her recovery. The coach said he would be "more surprised if she didn't play by the end of the year" compared to a few weeks ago. Brown has been limited to serving as an extra coach on the sideline during games since her injury on January 4.
- Brown has been sidelined since the January 4 home loss to Baylor.
- Brown will not play in Sunday's 1 p.m. game against Kansas State.

What they’re saying
“She's starting to work out. She actually had an individual workout, so we're getting there. She won't play Sunday. That's for sure. But we're getting there, and I would be more surprised if she didn't play by the end of the year than I was maybe a couple weeks ago.”
— Bill Fennelly, Head Coach
“(There's) the mental part where you don't really feel like you're on the team. But she's handled that really well. She was smiling the other day for the first time in a long time, so hopefully that's a good sign.”
— Bill Fennelly, Head Coach
What’s next
