Delta Air Lines is significantly expanding its Hawaii flight network for the 2026-27 winter season, launching new nonstop service between Minneapolis-St. Paul and Maui as well as restoring nonstop flights between Boston and Honolulu. The carrier is also adding more frequencies and upgrading aircraft on several existing Hawaii routes across its system.
Why it matters
The expanded Hawaii options from Delta provide more convenient access to the islands from key markets in the Midwest, Northeast, and Mountain West regions, catering to strong demand for winter getaways. The increased service and larger aircraft also signal Delta's confidence in the resilience of leisure travel to Hawaii as the industry continues to recover.
The details
Delta's new MSP-Maui route will operate daily during peak holiday and spring break periods, with five weekly flights through the core winter season, using Airbus A330-300 aircraft. The returning BOS-Honolulu service will run daily during late-December before transitioning to four weekly flights for the rest of winter, also on A330-300s. Beyond the new routes, Delta is boosting frequencies on existing Hawaii service from Atlanta, Detroit, and New York-JFK, as well as launching an earlier Kona season from Salt Lake City. The airline is also upgrading aircraft on routes to Kona and Honolulu to provide customers with a widebody onboard experience.
- The new MSP-Maui and returning BOS-Honolulu routes will launch on December 19, 2026.
- The expanded Atlanta-Honolulu service will begin operating three-times-weekly from January 4, 2027, through March.
- Detroit-Honolulu will increase from three-times-weekly to daily service starting November 9, 2026.
- New York-JFK to Honolulu will expand from up to five weekly flights to daily service beginning April 1, 2026.
- Salt Lake City-Kona daily service on the Boeing 767-300 will start November 9, 2026, launching earlier than last year.
