The Tiftarea Panthers baseball team defeated the Cairo Syrupmakers 3-1 in their season opener on Tuesday, February 17th. The game was scoreless through the first two innings before Cairo took a 1-0 lead in the third. Tiftarea responded with a run in the fifth and two more in the sixth, including a two-run home run by junior Beau Hembree. The Panthers held off a late Cairo rally in the seventh inning to secure the victory.
