Georgia College pitcher Keaton Prior named NCBWA DII National Pitcher of the Week

Georgia College & State University junior pitcher Keaton Prior has been named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association NCAA Division II National Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 2. Prior, a Milledgeville native and John Milledge Academy alum, threw a no-hitter in the Bobcats' 11-0 win over the University of South Carolina-Beaufort, striking out eight batters in the complete-game effort.

Why it matters

This is a significant achievement for Prior and the Georgia College baseball program, as he is only the second Bobcat player in history to be named a NCBWA National Player of the Week. Prior's no-hitter was the first for the Bobcats since 2000, showcasing his dominant pitching performance.

The details

Prior struck out eight batters and allowed just one runner to reach third base in his 98-pitch complete game. He walked two batters, hit one, and had another reach on a throwing error. Prior retired 14 of the final 15 batters he faced in the seven-inning game.
