The city of Augusta, Georgia has leased two additional downtown parking lots to help alleviate parking challenges and support local businesses along Broad Street. Beginning Monday, construction on Broad Street will shift into the median between Fifth and Sixth Streets, requiring the closure of inside lanes in both directions while the outside lanes remain open for through traffic.
Why it matters
As downtown Augusta undergoes major roadwork, the city is taking steps to ensure continued access and support for local businesses by leasing new public parking lots. This will help mitigate the impact of lane closures and disruptions caused by the construction project.
The details
The two new parking lots are now fully available to the public free of charge, with no designated time restrictions. Visitors are encouraged to use the spaces thoughtfully to ensure convenient access for everyone. The Broad Street construction will shift to the median between Fifth and Sixth Streets, requiring the closure of the inside lanes in both the eastbound and westbound directions, while the outside lanes will remain open for through traffic.
