Bridge Builder Communities is constructing a tiny home community in Augusta, Georgia, designed specifically for foster youth aging out of the system. Each tiny home will have essential amenities, and the residents will also receive assistance with education, career planning, and other needs to help them transition successfully.
Why it matters
This project aims to address the high rate of homelessness among foster youth who age out of the system, providing them with stable, affordable housing and support services to help them become self-sufficient.
The details
The tiny home community will feature homes with air conditioning, kitchen areas, wardrobe and closet space, as well as life skills training, workforce initiatives, and a supportive community for the residents. The builders and their community partners recently held a balloon release in memory of two children who died in a house fire in Washington County.
