The aftermath of a fiery multi-vehicle crash on I-75 in metro Atlanta exposes the grim reality of commercial truck accidents.Atlanta TodayA deadly crash on I-75 in Cobb County, Georgia left two people dead on Friday morning. According to police, a tractor-trailer traveling northbound collided with another truck, causing the first truck to overturn and strike a sound barrier wall. A third vehicle then struck the overturned truck, resulting in a fiery multi-vehicle pileup.
Why it matters
Interstate 75 is a major thoroughfare through metro Atlanta, and this crash caused significant delays and disruptions to traffic in the region. Accidents involving large commercial trucks can often be more severe due to the size and weight of the vehicles involved.
The details
The crash occurred around 8:34 a.m. on I-75 northbound near Hickory Grove Road. A 2023 Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer driven by Zory Beavers, 28, of Conyers with passenger Royan Osborne, 42, of Norcross failed to maintain its lane and collided with a 2019 Freightliner Cascadia driven by Verlon Henley, 62. This caused a 2018 Ram 3500 pulling a flatbed trailer, driven by Arkino Walker, 48, to then strike the rear of the trailer connected to Beavers' truck. The impact caused the Ram to veer across the northbound lanes, while Beavers' truck overturned and struck a sound barrier wall.
