Dog lovers in the Atlanta area will have the chance to meet and adopt a new furry friend this Sunday at a major dog adopt-a-thon event in Alpharetta's Union Hill Park. The event, hosted by LifeLine Animal Project, will feature over 100 adoptable dogs from across the organization's locations and foster homes, all of which are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated.
Why it matters
Adoption events like this help find permanent homes for stray and shelter dogs in the Atlanta metro area, reducing the burden on overcrowded animal shelters. The free adoptions also make it more accessible for families to bring a new pet into their home.
The details
The adopt-a-thon will take place from 12pm to 5pm on Sunday, March 17th at Union Hill Park in Alpharetta. Dogs available for adoption include Sputnik, Saint, Priscilla, Icicle, Tasso, and many more. All adoptions will be free of charge, and each dog is already spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations, allowing adopters to take their new pet home the same day.
- The adopt-a-thon will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2026 from 12pm to 5pm.
The players
LifeLine Animal Project
A non-profit organization that operates animal shelters and adoption programs across the Atlanta metro area.

What they’re saying
“We intake so many strays in the Atlanta area, but we can't permanently house dogs here. Really, these dogs should not live here. They need to go into a home and become part of a family.”
— Naomi Lawrence, Client Services Manager, Fulton County Animal Shelter (Atlanta News First)
The takeaway
This adopt-a-thon is a great opportunity for Atlanta-area residents to find their new furry companion and provide a loving home for a dog in need. The free adoptions and pre-vaccinated pets make it an accessible way for families to add a pet to their household.
