The Center for Recall Safety (CFORRS) has launched RecallSentry™, a free mobile app that monitors official recall databases from the FDA, CPSC, NHTSA, and USDA, and sends personalized alerts when a recalled product matches something in a user's home. The app uses AI to build a digital home inventory, cross-checks it against active recalls, and provides guidance on resolving recalls.
Why it matters
Many families don't know about product recalls until someone gets hurt. RecallSentry aims to address this issue by proactively notifying users of recalls on items in their home, helping to improve safety and prevent potential injuries.
The details
RecallSentry's four-step process allows users to: 1) Add items to a digital home inventory using the app's SmartScan feature, 2) Have the app's RecallMatch cross-check the inventory against active recalls, 3) Receive instant notifications with hazard summaries and next steps when a match is found, and 4) Use the Recall Center to track resolution, contact manufacturers, and calculate refund/repair values.
- RecallSentry launched publicly on March 10, 2026.
