According to prosecutors, on the evening of June 17, 2025, Bush and two other Gangster Disciple gang members went to the Horizon Inn and Suites in Norcross to ambush Jones, who they believed had stolen a gun from a fellow gang member. Witnesses testified to seeing Bush scouting the hotel earlier that day. Video evidence showed Bush shooting Jones twice, striking him once in the chest, and also hitting an innocent bystander, a woman, in the leg. Bush and another suspect then fled the scene in a waiting car.
