On Sunday, Officer Tamang and another officer, David Reed, responded to a call at a Holiday Inn in Stone Mountain, Georgia to investigate a fraud case. When they tried to take the suspect, 35-year-old Kevin Andrews, into custody for an outstanding warrant, Andrews allegedly opened fire, striking both officers. Tamang died from his injuries, while Reed was rushed to the hospital and underwent surgery. Andrews was also injured when the officers fired back, and he now faces several charges including malice murder and felony murder.
